Prop 8 and Politics
Man, This time of year really gets me riled up. When I was first married, I HATED POLITICS. I guess my wonderful wife has been rubbing off on me. I am now paying more attention to what's going on in the world. The latest thing I have been watching is Proposition 8 passing in California. I'm sure glad it did, but man the church has been dealing with a lot of backlash for promoting it so much. But I guess my opinion is that if the Prophet told us to support it, then he can see something that we can't and we should support it also. They don't call him a Prophet, Seer and Revelator for just being a title!
My Father-in Law is over living right outside San Fransisco and he was telling us that all the pro-gay people were picketing all weekend and it was so bad over there right now that he didn't go to church yesterday because of all the pickets around the temple and the churches there. There have even been people spray-painting and vandalizing the churches. I'm sure the Prophet saw this coming and he's still pretty confident in the world, so I wouldn't worry too much. We all know it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better, so just be prepared. I say a prayer for all!

This is a pretty sensitive issue, but if you want to read a good explanation on the position of our church, go to lds.org - then I think it's the 'newsroom' link, and on the left hand side there is another link that says something like 'same gender attraction'. It's an interview with Elder Oaks and the public affairs director for the church. It's really good.
