Holly is SO CUTE!!!

I just can't get enough of Holly...EXCEPT when it is very late at night and she just screams for NO REASON. Man, babies are work. I thought we could just live on Love and all would be well. I thought I could just hold my baby and she would calm down and sleep and smile and do what normal babies do! I thought I could tell holly to be quiet and she would. I thought if I told her to sit, she would sit! Hummphh

Baby Holly has Arrived!!!

Happy Birthday to Baby Holly! We weren't quite expecting her to come today, but about 2:30am, Eileen woke me up and told me her water broke. So we rushed over to the hospital to be checked out. They did a few tests on her to prove that it really was amniotic fluid. All of the tests came back negative! But Eileen insisted that it was her water that broke. So they did some expensive test that is going to cost us like a thousand bucks! But it came back positive, meaning that it really WAS amniotic fluid. So they checked her in!

She wasn't even dilated hardly at all at this point, so they waited for a few hours to do anything...just to see what was going to happen. At 6:00 am, they came in and gave her some pill that goes up the birth place and sort of ripens the cervix for dilation. They told us that some women take 1-3 tablets to start dilating. It only took her 1 tablet and she was at a 2! I went home for a few hours to sleep since I was dead, and nothing was going to take place for quite a while. So she tried to relax and I slept.

About 10:30 am I came back and they had started her on the Petosin (or however you spell it). So I hung around for a while until about 12:00pm. I then went and studied over across the street from the hospital with a couple of my friends because UNFORTUNATELY, baby holly didn't listen to our little pep talks and came today instead of Friday Afternoon, like we had previously discussed! I have a big final I have to take on Friday morning. So I studied for a few hours. When I got back to the hospital, Eileen had a catheter and an epidural because of the pain. Luckily through her entire pregnancy, she was lucky enough to not feel the TRUE Contractions that really hurt until today. So she felt a few hours worth and she had it. So bring on the meds!

We just hung around until about 5:00, when the doctors came in. They got her into position and told her we are going to start pushing now. So she pushed and pushed and pushed! Come to find out, Baby Holly was coming out head first face UP instead of DOWN like she was supposed to. So she had a pretty rough labor, but to spare the graphic details, she was born at 5:53pm, she weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces, and was 20" long. She had a big head after her dad. I guess not any bigger than normal, but it was pretty big. We are very excited to be parents. I'm not sure what to think right at the moment. But Baby Holly is a good baby. Eileen nursed her after 2 seconds of trying. She latched right on with no problems at all. So we struck out with a good one! So there you go, there's the update. I just realized that I didn't get too many face pictures, so I'll take more and put them up later! Cheers! I'm a dad!!!
